Established in 2021, Nyamasasa washing station stands proudly along the picturesque shores of Lake Kivu. Despite being a relatively young enterprise, the company is making significant strides by exporting three to five containers annually, showcasing their commitment to delivering specialty coffee of exceptional quality.
Operated on the ethos of freshness and precision, Nyamasasa's washing station processes coffee immediately after hand-picked cherries are delivered by local farmers. The meticulous washing, processing, and drying take place at the wet mill, followed by the coffee's journey to the Jumbo Safari dry mill in Goma for sorting and preparation for export.
The final leg of the coffee's voyage sees it making its way to the ports of Mombasa, Kenya, or Tanzania. The cooperative effort involves approximately 1,930 farmers, each cultivating an average of 1/3 hectare of coffee. Remarkably, these farmers hail from communities that were once divided by civil strife. Despite this challenging backdrop, their dedication shines through as they unite their strengths, working tirelessly every day to cultivate high-quality coffee and, in turn, build a prosperous future for their communities.
