ABOUT
El Naranjito is a remarkable honey-processed Pacas variety from Mapache Coffee, a fifth-generation producer in El Salvador’s Apaneca Ilamatepec mountain range. Managed by Jan-Carlo and Sofia Handtke, Mapache Coffee has earned a reputation for sustainable farming, exceptional quality, and a deep commitment to the people and land that make their coffee possible.
Grown at 1,400 meters above sea level, Finca El Naranjito overlooks the Pacific Ocean and benefits from its unique microclimate. Bordering El Imposible National Park, the farm experiences heavy morning fog during the rainy season, slowing the maturation of the coffee cherries. This extended growing period allows the beans to develop complex and layered flavors, creating a truly one-of-a-kind cup.
Mapache’s meticulous honey processing method allows the coffee’s natural sugars to enhance its sweetness, resulting in a velvety body and vibrant fruit notes. This lot offers an elegant balance of apple, orange, and kiwi-like acidity, smoothed by chocolate and honey undertones, with a crisp cranberry and apricot finish.
Beyond the cup, Mapache’s dedication to sustainability ensures that every farm under their care thrives. Their wet mill operates with minimal water usage, recycling resources wherever possible, and all coffee pulp from processing is returned to the soil as compost. This commitment to environmental responsibility is woven into every step of their process, preserving the land for future generations of coffee farmers.
El Naranjito is a perfectly structured coffee, delivering both brightness and depth, making it ideal for pour-overs, espresso, or a refined cold brew. Each sip is a glimpse into El Salvador’s rich coffee heritage, crafted with precision, care, and a deep respect for the land.
Experience the brilliance of El Naranjito—a coffee that embodies sustainability, complexity, and the unparalleled craftsmanship of Mapache Coffee.
