ABOUT

The Ngararia Farmers Cooperative was formed in the 1980’s for coffee producers in the region with farms averaging less than 1 acre. Today the cooperative is proud to be home to over 700 specialty coffee producing members.

Ngararia is a small village in Muranga County, Kenya. Ngararia is a kikuyu word meaning 'someone who does not conform to the norm'. The Cooperative is managed by an elected board of directors and the day to day operations are run by a factory manager. The manager is responsible for member registration, record keeping and processing of the cherries after they are delivered to the factory.
